What Happens if the Scratch is Through the Clear?
A scratch in the clear can be fixed. On this Elantra there was a heavy scratch in the clear, but not all the way through.
For this, we used a "wet sanding" method.
We sanded down the clear coat to be smoother and then did a paint correction to smooth out the tiny scratches caused by the sanding.

With this method, we were able to completely remove the scratch and bring the paint back to life, looking almost like new.

In the case that the scratch is through the clear coat, there is a way for the scratch to be fixed, but sometimes you can still see it if you are looking for it. We try our best for this not to happen.
You could go the method of having the panel repainted by a body shop, or you could have it repaired.

When the scratch is through the clear coat, we will sand down the scratch to make the area smooth so we can add clear coat to it. We wait for this to dry and do the same wet sanding method, knocking down the high spots to blend in the new clear to the existing clear. Once again, the panel will be painted to have the scratch marks removed left from the sanding.
